2009/ Summer road trip in Spain/ passing through many small villages/ A vast landscape full of silvery shining mountains from a distance/ Approaching the mountains/ The shining comes from enormous open excavations all over the mountains/ The people from a near village explain that they started to exploit this resource a few years back, and they made a lot of money with the charcoal they extracted/ Now the business is slow and the mountains are all half perforated and abandoned/ Photographing tinfoil to make forms resembling mountains/ paint on them/ black and white rustoleum paint/ Sometimes re-photograph them, reprint them, and paint them again./ process of repetition/ the images get distorted and transformed each time/ Long term ongoing project
